Entering Lakes Sky Ultra!

So it is happening – my entry to Lakes Sky Ultra has gone in and been accepted!

My first thoughts are admittedly that of nerves and excitement. For those of you who don’t know what Lakes Sky Ultra is – it’s a fell running race in the Lake District. However it’s by no means an ordinary race… take 50km of breathtaking ridges, technical descents, 4300m of vertical grind, grade III scrambles, knife edge arêtes and combine that with a big dollop of exposure and you’re about there! Like I said I am psyched for this but also a little intimidated; I can almost guarantee this will be one of the toughest things I have ever done.

So why have I entered?! Those of you who know me will know I love a challenge, I have always been one to not just jump in at the deep end but throw myself in straight off the highest diving board while doing it! Plus I think it will be fun… I have had a taste for endurance racing through Haglöf Open5 and loved it. I am also preparing for my first ultra in the Peak District this summer, so I thought why not take this a step further by entering a race that combines running with my love of scrambling and climbing. No, I am not a professional fell runner, but I have given it a lot of consideration, and I am very willing to put in the training and effort to make this happen. I am aware it is not going to be easy, but I am going in with my eyes open.

So keep a look out for updates and posts on my progress via here, plus all the latest news about the race, including heading over to the Lakes later this summer to try out bits of the course.

In the meantime find out more about Lakes Sky Ultra here! Alternatively, for all their latest updates check them out on Twitter and Facebook.

Or why not even take it a step further and enter – it’s certainly going to be an awesome day!
